Continuous glucose monitoring

Shows real-world glucose dynamics over several days.

DiagnosticEvidence B0 providers documented

What happens

A sensor worn on the arm for one to four weeks samples interstitial glucose every few minutes, producing a continuous curve rather than a single fasting value.

How to read the result

In people with diabetes or prediabetes, time in range and post-meal excursions guide treatment directly. In metabolically healthy adults the data are best used as short-term behavioural feedback on specific meals and training.

Where it stops

Interstitial readings lag capillary glucose and carry a margin of error. Normal glucose variability in healthy people is routinely misread as pathology, and the practice of chasing flat curves has no outcome evidence.

Before you book

Three questions to ask

  1. 01What decision will this data inform for me?
  2. 02Who reviews the traces with me, and how often?
  3. 03Do I need HbA1c and fasting insulin alongside it?
